There are three places to get good quality ice cream and sorbet in Oxford: G&D's on St Aldate's, G&D's on Little Clarendon, and G&D's in Cowley. Done.
Ice cream: 5 stars
Sorbet: 5 stars
Hot chocolate with ice cream in it: 5 stars -

This place is the best ice cream I've had in oxford so far! And the best part is that it doesn't close early! They have a wide variety of flavors, and other food like waffles and burgers. The ice cream was creamy and good, and reasonably priced. I had the super chocolate flavor. Loved it.

I went with a Oxford local to this fine Ice Cream establishment! They had an amazing ice cream selection, from the well caffeinated coffee to delectable blueberry. Yes they let you try!
I liked the light wood ambiance that really put a friendly feel to it. The staff was simply lovely and the place was super clean...
There are also food options to go along with the ice cream, but we stuck with the ice creams
Great:
- casual ice cream trip
- social bonding
- serious ice cream tasting
Not so great for
- those who doesn't appreciate gourmet ice cream -

If you've had good quality ice cream in North America (Salt&Straw, Molly Moons, Made by Marcus, Rain or Shine, Village Ice Cream) you may be sorely disappointed by George and Danver. It's apparently an Oxford institution and there was in fact a line out the door. They seemed pretty under staffed and the line moved slowly. Although it said the ice cream was made in one of their locations, it tasted like a poor store bought variety and after sampling three, I decided not to purchase anything. My two friends were also underwhelmed by their choices. If you're pining for a cold treat, my suggestion would be a small pint from Marks and Spencer's.

This was such an integral part of my ten-week stay in Oxford. I came here about once a week... ok, twice a week... maybe thrice... I've had so many flavors that it's hard to keep track: salted caramel, bailey's, pistachio, chocolate. The number of samples I get each time I come is a bit embarrassingly high as well. Their brownie sundaes are amazing, despite the fact that I generally am neutral towards brownies. There's an upstairs where you can watch people walk by on the street and also a downstairs that has a nook with some books. The whole place is a great work space. They also sell bagels here if you want real food, though I haven't tried them.
The only small downside to this place is that "1 scoop" usually means they put two scoops in your cup, but you can't have two different flavors with a "1 scoop" order. Also I think with sundaes, except for the banana split, you can only have one flavor as well.
There's also a George & Delila on Cowley Road as well, which is a lot bigger horizontally speaking. Apparently nobody knows who Delila, Danver, and Davis are, but it has been suggested that one of them may be George's dog.
